Acca insurance gives you something back when an accumulator loses by a single leg, the “one cut” every Nigerian bettor knows. On ChampBet it is called One Leg Down: build an acca of 4 or more selections at odds of 1.40 or higher, stake ₦1,000 or more, and if exactly one selection loses you get a free bet worth 20% to 1,000% of your stake, depending on how many legs you picked.

This guide covers the full percentage table, the rules that decide whether your bet qualifies, and worked examples in naira.

What is acca insurance?

Acca insurance is a promotion that softens the blow when one leg of your accumulator lets you down. Normally an acca is all or nothing: one losing selection loses the whole bet. With acca insurance, a qualifying acca that misses by exactly one leg earns a refund, usually as a free bet. On ChampBet, One Leg Down scales that free bet to the number of legs.

If you are new to multiples, start with our guide to accumulator bets, which explains how acca odds multiply.

How does ChampBet One Leg Down work?

One Leg Down pays a free bet when exactly one selection in a qualifying acca loses. Your acca needs at least 4 selections, each priced at 1.40 or higher, and a real money stake of at least ₦1,000. The free bet is a percentage of your stake, from 20% for 4 legs up to 1,000% for 25 legs or more, capped at ₦150,000.

To qualify:

  1. Add 4 or more selections to your bet slip, each from a different event and each priced at 1.40 or higher.
  2. Place it as a multiple with a real money stake of at least ₦1,000.
  3. Leave Cash Out alone on that bet.
  4. If exactly one selection loses, the free bet is credited automatically within 24 hours of the final selection settling.

The full qualifying rules:

  • Selections: at least 4. Selections priced below 1.40 do not count towards the number of selections.
  • Stake: at least ₦1,000, real money only. Bets placed with bonus funds or free bets do not count.
  • Void legs: void or returned selections are excluded from the selection count. Cancelled, voided or returned bets do not qualify.
  • Cash Out: bets where Cash Out was used, in full or in part, do not qualify.
  • Bet Builder: bets made with the Bet Builder feature do not qualify.
  • Same event: selections from the same event, including combined or related markets, count as one selection.
  • Refund type: a free bet. Your stake is not returned.

How much is the One Leg Down free bet?

The free bet is a percentage of your stake, set by the number of selections in your acca. It starts at 20% for 4 legs, reaches 100% at 8 legs and 200% at 10 legs, and tops out at 1,000% for 25 legs or more. The minimum free bet is ₦200 and the maximum is ₦150,000 per bet.

Selections Free bet (% of stake) On a ₦1,000 stake On a ₦5,000 stake
4 20% ₦200 ₦1,000
5 40% ₦400 ₦2,000
6 60% ₦600 ₦3,000
7 80% ₦800 ₦4,000
8 100% ₦1,000 ₦5,000
9 140% ₦1,400 ₦7,000
10 200% ₦2,000 ₦10,000
11 240% ₦2,400 ₦12,000
12 280% ₦2,800 ₦14,000
13 320% ₦3,200 ₦16,000
14 360% ₦3,600 ₦18,000
15 to 24 500% ₦5,000 ₦25,000
25+ 1,000% ₦10,000 ₦50,000

The smallest qualifying bet, 4 legs at ₦1,000, gives exactly the ₦200 minimum free bet.

Worked examples in naira

Six legs, one loser

You stake ₦2,000 on a 6-leg acca, every leg priced at 1.40 or more. Five legs win and one loses. Six selections pay 60%, so you get a ₦1,200 free bet.

Ten legs, one loser

You stake ₦1,000 on a 10-leg acca and nine legs win. Ten selections pay 200%, so you get a ₦2,000 free bet, twice your stake.

One leg priced below 1.40

You build 5 legs, but one is priced at 1.30. That leg does not count towards the number of selections, so the acca counts as 4 selections, not 5. If exactly one leg loses, a ₦1,000 stake earns ₦200 (20%) instead of ₦400 (40%).

A void leg

You stake ₦1,000 on 7 legs and one match is voided. Void selections are excluded from the count, so the acca counts as 6 selections. If exactly one of the rest loses, you get 60%, a ₦600 free bet.

Two legs lose

One Leg Down only pays when exactly one selection loses. If two or more legs lose, there is no free bet.

Hitting the cap

On 25 or more legs, the free bet is 1,000% of your stake, so a ₦15,000 stake already earns the ₦150,000 maximum. On 15 to 24 legs, at 500%, the cap is reached at ₦30,000. Staking more than that does not raise the free bet.

ChampBet bet slip with a three-selection multiple at odds of 2.00, 1.25 and 1.28 and a ₦1,000 stake This 3-selection slip would not qualify: it has fewer than 4 legs, and two of its prices (1.25 and 1.28) are below 1.40.

How do you use the One Leg Down free bet?

The free bet is credited automatically within 24 hours of your last selection settling. Use it on the ChampBet sportsbook, pre-match or live, on any bet type, market or odds, within 7 days. The free bet stake is not returned with your winnings, so you keep the profit, not the stake.

Example. Your ₦1,200 free bet goes on a selection at odds of 3.00 (example odds) and wins. The return is ₦3,600, but the ₦1,200 free bet stake is not returned, so you receive ₦2,400.

Free bets cannot be cashed out, so a free bet runs to the final whistle.

Bet Builder, Cash Out and same-event rules

These three rules catch out the most players. Bet Builder bets do not qualify at all. Any use of Cash Out, full or partial, disqualifies the bet. And several picks from one match count as a single selection, which can drop your acca below 4 legs or into a lower row of the table.

  • Bet Builder. The “BB” icon on an event lets you combine markets from one match into a single selection. It is a great tool, but a Bet Builder bet does not qualify for One Leg Down. Our ChampBet Bet Builder guide explains how it works.
  • Cash Out. Taking a full or partial Cash Out ends your One Leg Down cover on that bet. See our Cash Out guide before you decide.
  • Same event. A home win and over 2.5 goals in the same match count as one selection, not two. Spread your legs across different matches.

Does One Leg Down affect sports cashback?

Yes. Stakes already refunded by another promotion, including One Leg Down, do not count towards your weekly net loss for Weekly Sports Cashback. Read our ChampBet cashback guide for how the weekly sports loss is worked out.

Tips for building accas that qualify

  • Check every price before you place. Any leg under 1.40 drops out of the count.
  • One pick per match. Same-event picks count once.
  • Know what the table really pays. More legs means a bigger percentage, but every extra leg multiplies the odds and cuts your chance of the acca landing. Our guide on how betting odds work shows the maths, and BeGambleAware explains the risks of gambling in plain terms.
  • Stake from a budget. One Leg Down is a consolation, not a reason to stake more. For fresh ideas on markets, see our football betting tips.

Do Bet Builder bets count for One Leg Down?

No. Bets placed with the Bet Builder feature do not qualify, and selections from the same event, including combined or related markets, count as one selection. Bets where you used Cash Out, in full or in part, do not qualify either, and neither do bets placed with bonus funds or free bets.

When do I get the One Leg Down free bet?
