Casino Jackpot Explained: Progressive vs Fixed Jackpots
Casino jackpot explained: how progressive and fixed jackpots work, Mega, Major, Minor and Mini tiers, network pools, Drops & Wins and your real odds.
In this guide
A casino jackpot is a top prize that sits above a game’s normal payouts. It comes in two kinds: fixed jackpots, which pay a set amount, and progressive jackpots, which grow with every qualifying bet until someone wins and the pool resets. This guide explains how each casino jackpot works, what Mega, Major, Minor and Mini mean, how the jackpots on ChampBet work, and what your real chances look like.
What is a casino jackpot?
A casino jackpot is a special prize paid on top of a game’s regular wins. A fixed jackpot pays a known amount, often a multiple of your stake. A progressive jackpot starts at a base amount and climbs as players place qualifying bets, then resets after someone wins it. Most jackpots land at random, which makes them rare by design.
Fixed vs progressive jackpots
| Fixed jackpot | Progressive jackpot | |
|---|---|---|
| Prize | A set amount or a set multiple of your stake | Grows with every qualifying bet |
| Paid from | The game’s normal maths | A small slice of each qualifying stake |
| After a win | Stays the same | Resets to its starting amount (the seed) |
| Typical size | Smaller and predictable | Can reach very large sums |
A fixed jackpot example: in Wolf Gold by Pragmatic Play, six or more money symbols start a Money Respin, and if you fill all 15 positions you win the Mega Jackpot worth 1,000x your stake. At a ₦100 stake, that is ₦100,000. Wolf Gold is profiled in our guide to popular slot games in Nigeria.
How do progressive jackpots work?
A progressive jackpot takes a small share of every qualifying bet and adds it to a prize pool, so the amount on screen keeps climbing. When someone wins, the pool drops back to its seed amount and starts growing again. The more players feeding the pool, the faster it grows and the bigger it gets.
The life of a progressive pool runs like this:
- Seed. The jackpot starts from a base amount.
- Contribution. A small part of each qualifying stake goes into the pool.
- Trigger. The jackpot is won at random. Depending on the game, it can drop on any qualifying spin, through a bonus wheel, or through a special symbol combination.
- Reset. The winner is paid and the pool returns to its seed.
Standalone, casino-wide and network jackpots
- Standalone: one game feeds its own pool.
- Casino-wide: several games at one casino feed a shared pool.
- Network: many games across many casinos feed one pool. This is how jackpots reach eight, nine or even ten figures in naira.
Mega, Major, Minor and Mini: what the tiers mean
Most modern jackpots have several tiers that run at the same time. Mini is the smallest and drops most often. Minor and Major sit in the middle. Mega is the biggest prize and the rarest by far. Tiers let a jackpot pay something regularly while the top prize keeps building.
Names vary between systems. Some use Maxi, Midi and Mini, and some have three tiers rather than four, but the idea is the same: the bigger the tier, the rarer the win.
The jackpots on ChampBet
The ChampBet jackpot page has three tabs, one for each jackpot system, with live counters and the eligible games listed underneath. On a phone, open the Jackpots tab at the top of the casino lobby.
The BetConstruct Jackpot tab, with live counters and eligible games.
BetConstruct Jackpot
The BetConstruct Jackpot has four tiers: Mega, Major, Minor and Mini. When we checked on 7 October 2026, the Mega pool stood at about ₦1.72 billion, the Major at about ₦408 million, the Minor at about ₦3.2 million and the Mini at about ₦207,000. The counters move every second, so check the page for live amounts. Pools that size, climbing in real time, come from many players’ bets feeding them, which is how network jackpots work in general.
The counters also appear in a side panel when you open some games, such as Gates of Olympus. On mobile, tap the “i” icon on the jackpot box for more information about it.
BettingGames Jackpot
The BettingGames Jackpot runs with Mega, Major and Minor tiers. On the same day, its Mega stood at about ₦100 million.
Fugaso jackpot
The Fugaso jackpot, labelled FugasoOGS in the lobby, uses Maxi, Midi and Mini tiers.
All three jackpot systems sit side by side in the casino lobby.
Pragmatic Play Drops & Wins
Drops & Wins is not a jackpot in the strict sense, but it works in a similar way: random prizes paid on top of a game’s normal wins. It is a network promotion run and funded by Pragmatic Play across many casinos. According to Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins page, each week has:
- Daily tournaments, with leaderboards ranked by the sum of win multipliers.
- A weekly Wheel Drop, where wheel pieces are awarded at random during normal play. Collect all three pieces to spin a wheel for a prize of up to 100,000x your bet, subject to a cap set by Pragmatic Play.
Whether it runs in a given game depends on the promotion schedule and the casino. When it is live, a promotion panel inside qualifying Pragmatic Play games shows the rules and prizes. Tournaments are covered in depth in our guide to casino tournaments.
What are the real odds of winning a jackpot?
Very small, especially for the top tier. Game makers rarely publish exact jackpot odds, and a Mega tier fed by thousands of players can take a long time to drop, then go to one of them. Smaller tiers land more often, but they are smaller for that reason.
A few facts worth knowing:
- Jackpots are paid for. In many jackpot games, part of the RTP is set aside for the jackpot, so regular wins pay a little less. Our guide to RTP meaning explains how RTP works.
- A big jackpot is not “due”. On a random game, previous results do not change the odds of the next one. Some mystery jackpots must drop by a set amount or time, which the rules state, but even then you are one player among many.
- Bigger stakes cost more. Where a higher stake raises your chance, it raises the cost of every spin by the same logic.
Treat a jackpot as a bonus on top of a game you would play anyway. Never raise your stake or extend a session to chase one. Our bankroll guide shows how to set a stake from a budget.

Frequently asked questions
What is a casino jackpot?
A casino jackpot is a top prize paid on top of a game's normal wins. A fixed jackpot is a set amount or a set multiple of your stake. A progressive jackpot grows as players bet, because a small slice of qualifying stakes feeds the pool, until someone wins it and it resets.
How does a progressive jackpot work?
Each qualifying bet adds a small amount to the jackpot pool, so the prize climbs in real time. When it is won, it drops back to a starting amount, called the seed, and grows again. Network jackpots pool bets from many players across many games or sites, which is how they reach very large sums.
What are Mega, Major, Minor and Mini jackpots?
They are the tiers of a multi-level jackpot. Mini is the smallest and lands most often, Minor and Major sit in the middle, and Mega is the largest and rarest. On ChampBet, the BetConstruct Jackpot uses these four tiers, and the live amounts show on the jackpot page.
Can you increase your chances of winning a jackpot?
Not in any way that beats the maths. Jackpot wins are random. In some jackpot games a bigger stake gives a bigger chance, which the jackpot rules state, but it also costs more on every spin. Read the rules, set a budget and treat a jackpot as a bonus, never as a plan.
Where can I find jackpot games on ChampBet?
Open the Jackpots page from the casino, or the Jackpots tab at the top of the casino lobby on your phone. It shows the BetConstruct, BettingGames and Fugaso jackpots with their live amounts, and lists the eligible games under the counters so you can open one directly.
