Quick verdicts on the other seven games
- Malaga vs Espanyol: Malaga are bottom, still winless, with three goals in seven games. Espanyol lost 3-1 at home to Elche last time. Two blunt attacks point to a tight game, so we lean Under 2.5.
- Rayo vs Athletic: Rayo’s seven league games have produced 27 goals, and Sergio Camello has seven of their 11. Athletic sit level on eight points with a game in hand. We lean both teams to score.
- Elche vs Celta: Elche have lost four of seven. Celta have lost only two, drawn four and beat Racing 5-0 last time, so Celta or draw is our pick.
- Real Sociedad vs Deportivo: promoted Deportivo have lost once all season and have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (five league goals). La Real have conceded 13. Both teams to score.
- Betis vs Osasuna: Betis are third on 16 points and have already beaten Real Madrid. Osasuna have a goal difference of -7. Betis to win.
- Racing vs Valencia: Racing have conceded 21, the most in the league, and their games average more than four goals. Valencia are 19th but meet the leakiest defence in Spain. Over 2.5.
- Levante vs Sevilla: Sevilla are fifth on 13 points; Levante are 17th on five. Sevilla or draw.

Real Madrid vs Villarreal prediction
Our Real Madrid vs Villarreal prediction is both teams to score at 1.47, with Real Madrid to win at 1.34 as the alternative. Kick-off is Saturday 10 October at 20:00 WAT. Madrid are fourth on 15 points after losing the derby; Villarreal are ninth on eight but arrive on two straight 3-1 league wins.
Team news and form
José Mourinho’s side lost 2-1 at Atletico on 20 September, and Dean Huijsen was sent off, so he is suspended (Guardian match report). Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy and Raul Asencio are injured, and Ibrahima Konate and Federico Valverde are doubts. Kylian Mbappé, who has seven league goals, hurt his left knee with France. AS reported that Madrid’s priority is the Clásico on 25 October, though later reports put him in line to play. Treat him as a doubt until the team sheet.
Villarreal, coached by Iñigo Pérez, have scored 13 and conceded 12 in seven league games. They lost 3-2 at Dortmund in the Champions League, while Madrid beat Inter 2-1. Madrid have won the last four meetings.
Odds and our pick
At 1.34, Madrid have an implied chance of about 75%; the draw at 6 implies 17% and Villarreal at 7.3 about 14%. Both teams to score at 1.47 implies 68%. Madrid’s games have produced 26 goals in seven, Villarreal’s 25, and Madrid’s back line is patched up. We lean BTTS, with 3-1 to Madrid as our scoreline.
The risk: Madrid keep a clean sheet, or both sides hold back with the Champions League next week (Villarreal host Napoli on Tuesday, Madrid visit Roma on Wednesday). For a Bet Builder idea, pair Madrid to win with both teams to score; the combined price shows in the slip.
Barcelona vs Getafe prediction
Our Barcelona vs Getafe prediction is both teams to score: No at 1.58, with Over 3.5 goals at 1.65 as the bolder angle. Kick-off is Saturday 10 October at 17:30 WAT. Barcelona have won all seven league games and scored 31. Getafe have scored four.
Team news and form
Barcelona won 3-1 at Sevilla last time with a Raphinha hat-trick, his second in a row. Raphinha leads La Liga with 12 goals but left the Brazil squad with a thigh problem, so he may be managed. Lamine Yamal is fit after four goals in three games for Spain, and summer signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi add depth; Adeyemi scored in the 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord. Hansi Flick visits Galatasaray on Tuesday, so expect some rotation.
José Bordalás’s Getafe beat Malaga 1-0 last time and have conceded only seven. They are without Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche, ruled out for the season with a knee injury (Punch).
Odds and our pick
Barcelona at 1.07 imply about 93%, which is too short to bet on its own. BTTS: No at 1.58 implies 63%. With four goals in seven games, Getafe score rarely, and Barcelona’s attack should win the game without them. Our scoreline guess is 3-0. The risk is rotation: a changed Barcelona back line and a Getafe set piece could spoil it.
Alaves vs Atletico Madrid prediction
We lean Atletico Madrid to win at 1.84, with Under 2.5 goals at 1.92 as the alternative. Kick-off is Saturday 10 October at 15:15 WAT. Atletico are second on 16 points and have won three of their last four league games, including the 2-1 derby win. Alaves are sixth on 11 and have conceded only six.
Diego Simeone is without Pablo Barrios, and Alejandro Grimaldo is a doubt after a muscle problem on Spain duty. Ademola Lookman, signed from Atalanta in February, is back in training after Nigeria released him as a precaution, and he is the Nigerian to watch, most likely from the bench. Alex Baena has four league goals. For Alaves, Lucas Boyé has four, and coach Quique Sánchez Flores had knee surgery this week, the club says.
At 1.84, Atletico’s implied chance is about 54%, with the draw at 3.7 (27%) and Alaves at 4.2 (24%). We rate Atletico’s attack, which has scored 16, above the Alaves defence. Our scoreline guess is 0-2. The risk is a stubborn home side and Atletico’s eye on Manchester United on Tuesday.
Is there a La Liga acca worth building?
Four of our picks are priced at 1.40 or more, so they count for One Leg Down: Atletico to win (1.84), Betis to win (1.55), BTTS in Madrid (1.47) and Celta or draw (1.45).
1.84 x 1.55 x 1.47 x 1.45 = 6.08. A ₦1,000 stake returns ₦6,079 if all four land, plus any accumulator bonus shown in the slip. If exactly one leg loses, One Leg Down pays a free bet of 20% of your stake, ₦200 here. Full terms apply; our acca insurance guide covers them.
